The following statement was made by a Nepiophile (one who is sexually attracted to toddlers and infants) on a web-site designed to give the ‘nepi’ an opportunity to express themselves freely:
“I would like to say that I am happy being a pedophile as well as a ‘nepi’ and think that there is nothing wrong with our love and fantasies towards children just as long as we never act on it without the child’s say or consent and sometimes not even then. I just love being who I am and I love that there are places like this web site where I can come and tell my story.”

In an article titled, The Pedophile…Monster or Human?—a therapist who counsels sexual offenders said, “when the average person hears the word pedophile, the word ‘monster’ comes to mind. We must all however, overcome this tendency and learn how to view a pedophile as a person, not just as a monster.” Julia Whealin, Ph.D. National Center for PTSD.
When researchers asked groups of volunteers to choose the child molester from pictures of different people almost all of them chose an ugly, dirty old man in a trench coat. When questioned, they didn't suspect a favorite uncle or aunt, the neighbor next door, the trusted parishioner, family members, or friendly co-worker. They don't think of mom or dad, or in the case of single parents—their significant others. The truth is that child molesters come from all walks of life and from all socioeconomic groups. They can be male or female, rich or poor, employed or unemployed, seemingly religious or non-religious, and from any race or nationality.” Julia Whealin, Ph.D. National Center for PTSD.
Most parents feel that they are able to detect a child molester just by their actions, giving them a false sense of security. Snyder, Ph.D.; National Center for Juvenile Justice, July 2000, U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, http://www.childluresprevention.com/research/molester.asp
The “stranger molester” is a term used for an offender who, as the term implies, is a stranger to the child. This type of molestation is usually reported promptly to the police because the trauma to the child is readily apparent. raptorware.com Myths and Truths About Sex Offenders.
However, only 4% of sexual assaults against children are by strangers, persons unknown to either the child or the child's family. Focus Adolescent Services, http://www.therapistfinder.net/Child-Abuse/Sexual-Abuse-Incest-Statistics.html
According to police-recorded incident data, in 90% of the rapes of children less than 12 years old the child knew the offender. Bureau of Justice Statistics, U.S. Department of Justice, www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs
A predator will identify and connect with his victim. He'll gain the child's trust, break down his defenses, and manipulate him into performing or permitting the desired sex act. If necessary, the predator will gain access to the child by using the same techniques with the child's parent or adult caretaker. This process is called grooming.
"Yum-yum!" Hearing those words makes most people think of a baby asking for food, cutely clapping its hands together for its favorite snack. Yet, if we approach the phrase from a different context, say, a street in one of Bangkok’s red-light districts, it takes on a whole new meaning. “Yum-yum” is what girls are taught to say by their brothel madams when they are pitching the sale of oral sex, specifically to foreign male tourists. Most of them are too young, maybe 7, maybe 9 years old, to know what a penis is, so they are taught to treat it like candy, like sucking on a lollipop.
Suddenly, that “yum-yum” is no longer cute, but it is genitalia; a foul, repulsive, object. The child is no longer endearing, but now a nauseating example of what we never, ever want to see; a young person clearly sexualized, lacking all sense of innocence and purity. http://www.stanford.edu/~njbuff/conference_winter07/papers/mitali_thakor.pdf Mitali Thakor
There are 10 Million child prostitutes worldwide. The Global Coalition to End Human Trafficking Now
Approximately 95% of teenage prostitutes were sexually abused as children.

Prostitution is one of the most hostile forms of child labor. Force is used to confine the children so that they can rarely seek help or be reached. They have no ability to negotiate the terms of their employment; they are commonly sold, trafficked, tricked or lured. The child victims of the industry are most often from the poorest sections of society. Family or community members may knowingly sell children to brothel agents or pimps or unwittingly sell them into prostitution in the mistaken belief that the go-between will find them work in a factory or as domestic help. Some children are kidnapped or lured by traffickers with promises of employment only to end up in brothels. Lim, L. The Sex Sector. International Labour Office. Geneva, 1998, O'Dea, P. Statistics particular to the State of Georgia:

In Atlanta adult men and women lure these girls and boys in with offers of friendship, money, or drugs and then beat them into submission with coat hangers and baseball bats.

There were 842 registered sex offenders living in Atlanta in May 2009. The ratio of number of residents in Atlanta to the number of sex offenders is 639 to 1.
At least 300 adolescent girls are prostituted each month in the state of Georgia alone.
Men are 65% more likely to respond to an internet ad selling sex if it indicates the girl is young.
More girls under the age of 18 are prostituted in Georgia on a typical weekend night than are killed in car accidents in the state in an entire year—129 versus 58
African American girls are disproportionately affected, with 90% of cases reported to the Center to End Adolescent Sexual Exploitation in 2004
Angela’s House in Georgia can only accommodate six girls at a time and is the only safe house east of the Mississippi River specifically for girls who have been sexually exploited.
The average age of girls being sexually exploited for commercial gain in Georgia is 14½, and most of them were first exploited at age 13. Girls as young as 9 have been rescued.
One woman interviewed reports that she was first paid for sexual activities at 7 years old, and that many of the girls who become prostitutes have been sexually abused at a young age by relatives or other close adults.
Globally, approximately 1.2 million children are sexually exploited for commercial gain each year
Georgians who know of a child being prostituted or abused are urged to call the Dear John/Human Trafficking Hotline at 404-379-3602.
