KCI was established as a non-profit organization in 1995. The founders, Joel and Lorraine Fast have been in children’s ministry since 1983 with a heart for children in crisis. Their experience and background include ministering in juvenile detention centers in Metro Atlanta. They served as full time volunteer chaplains at the Marietta Regional Youth Detention Center for seven years bringing the youth:

• Creative art and music appreciation classes
• A guest speaker program
• Special inspirational materials and “Extreme Teen” Bibles
• They distributed 10,400 Family Assistance Directories that KCI produced and printed to help children and families find critical needs such as food, clothing, medical and mental health assistance as well as help in crisis situations.

Joel and Lorraine mentor several young adults including some of the kids they met in youth detention, continuing to be an inspirational influence in their lives.

Whatever the need is for children and youth, KCI is ready to help. Our mission is to partner with other faith based and public service organizations to provide assistance with placement, education, job opportunities, seeking professional counseling and other critical needs.

A large part of our focus is to provide a Ranch with homes for short and long-term placement for some of these children. For more information, see Welcome Home Ranch.
